Fab Find Friday

VIVA CRAYOLA!

Last night we did some shopping for M's little friend's birthday.  As I'm sure you are fully aware, it is back-to-school mania in stores right now.  School supplies galore!  While I'm sure the bright yellow and green packages containing every color under the sun are not new to you....the supplies are my fab find this week because of their temporary price!

Box of crayons:   $0.49
Watercolors:        $2.99 AND Buy One Get One Free - so $1.50 each

$.49 for a box of color!  You can not beat that.  I don't remember when I was able to buy something for less than a dollar.....Remember when candy bars were $.25?  And, you could buy a soda out of a vending machine for $.50?  Chrissie, do you remember putting our $1.00 lunch money into the school vending machine for a candy bar and Dr. Pepper?  Ugh!

Anyway, school has started in most parts and you may be thinking "there is NO way that I am going back down that isle".  But, may I encourage you to sneak down there just one more time.  Not for school supplies, but for CHRISTMAS!  These prices only come around once a year.  It's a great time to stock up!

We bought a few boxes of crayons, markers and paints to have on hand for birthday presents.  I threw a few in the basket for stocking stuffers.  But, the thing I'm most excited about?  M chose a few fun supplies for our Christmas Box this year.  You may remember my post on Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox Program last year.  If not, check you can check it out HEREThis is truly a great program and we're excited to do it again this year.  If you're thinking of helping some little ones out this Christmas, you can't beat $0.49 boxes of crayons.  FAB FIND!

Happy Friday All!
Heather

HI!

Hey, there!  Long time no talk.  I'm still here.  Sorry to drop off like that.  Unfortunately, we've had some pretty important stuff come up around here.  Sadly, my father-in-law passed away.  And, I had a root canal that turned so ugly that I ended up in the Emergency Room....the exact same day!  After 5 rounds of antibiotics and LOTS of pain killers (morphine anyone?), I'm on the mend.  We are all VERY tired, but know that things will get better with time.

Amongst all of that, we also need to be moved into the basement of our new house by the end of next week and work and start the kiddos at a new preschool and........  :)

So, I just wanted to pop in and say "Hi" and "I'm still here."  Jody is, too.  Unfortunately, she has had a death in the family as well and is crazy busy getting kids and herself off to school.  BUT, we are hooking up this Sunday to talk biz and will be back to some normal posting next week!  Wish us luck with the weekend!

Deadlines.....Calendars.....new beginnings....and more

As you can see Heather and I have been a bit busy with LIFE lately.  Unfortunately our blog has suffered a little as a result.

What do you do....it's life and life is CRAZY sometimes!

My FUN Calendar has quickly been replaced with a (very full) TASK Calendar. Yes Heather,  I actually started a calendar!

We have some major changes going on in our house:

The Coyster is heading to Jr. High
Little miss Indiana Jane is heading to Kindergarten
I myself am heading back to college
My hubby is currently looking for a job :(!

All of these changes are making me feel a little like this:

http://girllostinthecity.com/2012/07/07/today-world-im-not-going-to-be-a-stresshead/stressed-woman-cartoon-stock/
A MIX of stress...anxiety and what the HELL!!!!

Only comfort is in knowing that I am a mom.  I deal with juggling CONSTANTLY, nothing new...right?

Oh and also not to mention that I will have two kids out of the house for half a day every day.  Can't complain too much about that ;).

My kids are growing up...right before my eyes.  It makes me want a few more weeks of Summer...JUST to PLAY!

To sit with Indiana and have a tea party, to play board games with the Coyster.....the little things that seem so hard to accomplish when life gets busy.

It is Back to school, back to routine, schedules, homework.  I think I better pencil in some Yoga classes!  I could sure use some ZEN in my life about now :).

Happy Monday everyone!

Alt Summit Online Classes

Heather and I had the chance last week to take a couple online classes offered by ALT.

http://www.altitudesummit.com/
We have been talking about the Alt Summit for a couple years now and how we would LOVE to attend.  When we found out they were offering online classes we signed right up!

It was really great to learn from the experts and chat with other AMAZING bloggers.

I think I could sign up for all of the classes offered and still not take it all in.

There is A LOT to blogging!

More than I originally anticipated: tagging.....permalinks.....utilizing Pinterest...Twitter... Instagram... blogging calendars....photoshop... tutorials....giveaways......sponsors.....keywords....SEO....Labels.....
Clouds....

The list goes on and on and on!

It can get a bit overwhelming :).

It was great to chat with other bloggers about what works for them, what doesn't, what they struggle with (I was happy to hear others experience the occasional "blogging block"-like myself...right now :).

I look forward to taking more classes in August and making more friends in the blogging world!

If you are visiting our site from one of the classes give us a shout out!  We would love to hear from you.

Heaven on Earth

If you are looking for a destination to add to your Summer hiking list I would strongly suggest adding Albion Basin!  It is located up Little Cottonwood Canyon at the top of Alta Resort and is world famous for its AMAZING wildflowers.

Sunday afternoon we attended our weekly 'church o' the mountains' and went for a picnic.....
I even managed to get a few photos before my camera died :(.......
We decided that we have to go back up for a date night....
Get a redo on the photo safari....maybe bring up the watercolors....who knows.  I might get artsy like that ;).

What I PROBABLY will do however is bring up a picnic....a bottle of wine....hike and R-E-L-A-X.

I think this is what my heaven will look like (minus the bugs and the kids whining that their legs hurt :)
