Politics...what else?

Me and Heather have pretty similar political views.  When starting our blog we discussed and decided not to get too political due to the political drama going on in the US right now.  It is SOAP Opera worthy I tell you.  They should have a SOAP called "The Politicians" I know I would watch it! We already have the reality TV.  

As you know Mitt took NH (not surprised) who I was surprised with taking second was Ron Paul.  Since I vote on the other side of the spectrum it is good to see the opposition.  However I do have to chuckle when I think of Obama and Paul squaring off.  They are both such "Idealists" with grand plans.

While their agendas could not be more different, their campaign styles almost seem as if they were purchased as a PR firms standard "Movement Marketing" package.  One for the right, one for the left ;).

While I doubt that Paul will be the republican nominee I do see why people are drawn to the "movement(s)" whether it be: Obama's-YES WE CAN,Paul's-R"EVOL"UTION, the 99% movement/Occupy Movement, Tea Party....etc...etc.   We are all ready for the big change and a leader that can get us there.  

It is much easier to blame one party or person for the state of our country and rely on a movement or person for the solution. 

We didn't get here overnight or even in the last two years.  Big problems need big solutions.  (Now I sound like a politician :)

This is as deep in the political muck as I will go.  I am in no way blogging as a voice of reason on the matter, just observing and commenting.  

While I am not a Romney fan, ironically he is a relative....a DISTANT relative.  My dad's second cousin, so who knows what that makes me.  My son said this morning.  "Romney won New Hampshire? Oh well, if he is elected at least I get to tell everyone he is my relative".  Which MIGHT actually be a "good thing" here in Utah.

Enough about politics....I promised I would post some more family pics once I got them downloaded.  All I have to say is "We Tried".  I think I am going to have to go to the professionals with my family, we need some serious help :).  Our couple pics turned out, and the kids did great in the big family photos and individual photos.  Our family on the other hand, looks a little like the government....disjointed ;).

Quick Clarification

After out posts on our #1 New Year's Resolution, we had a few people ask what the ABC Show is.  Duh!  I should have clarified.
The ABC Show is really called the ABC Kids Expo.  It is essentially the largest market for children's products in the United States.  Once a year companies take their children's products to this market to show.  Buyers (this could be anyone from Toys R Us to a local boutique) go to the Expo to purchase the products for their stores.  This year the Trade Show opens on October 14th in Louisville, KY.  Jody and I plan to be there with our "stuff".  It's a HUGE goal.  But, nothing we can't do!

Goals...goals...more goals. It is January, right?

I know there has been quite a bit of goal talk going on between me and Heather this past week, but January REALLY gets me (along with pretty much everyone else on the planet) thinking about what is important, what I could change, what I would like to accomplish....and on and on.  

Tonight I found myself yet ANOTHER goal to put on the list (if it isn't long enough) and that is 

TO COOK WITH INDIANA MORE

 

This girl LOVES to cook! 

She is such a great little helper.  Not to mention dad won some serious points tonight!

This goal however, will need to extend beyond little Indiana to include myself.  I need to cook to be able to cook WITH Indiana.   

I have a sad confession to make.  Me (the pin up with the apron) is just a little misleading...in more ways than one ;).  I have told my husband we need a boy pin up with an apron to represent our family.  He was NOT too happy about that.  (Whoops...did I just mention that? I may just lose my cook if I am not careful)

I have always been a necessity cook, finding a few favorites and sticking to them until even the thought of the meal makes me ill.  

I have toyed with the thought of making a "Month of Meal's" challenge where I fix something different EVERY night for an entire month.  However the mere thought of it makes me exhausted.  Maybe next year for that goal.  

Speaking of exhausted.....I am off to bed.

Getting Down to Business

It turns out that Jody and I are pretty darn serious about our #1 2012 Resolution.  We met up, after far too long, to nail down our biz plan of attack (AGAIN).  Sometimes that's just the way it goes.  At least for us. 

First things first.  We are finishing our prototypes this month.  Hooray!  This lady is totally excited to be pulling out the cutest of fabrics again and getting my creative juices going!  May I just say that I have got the best husband in the world (perfect for me).  When I told him that I am thinking of permanently setting up my sewing machine in our living room, he just said, "Okay.  I will do whatever I can to support you."  Just one of the main reasons I married that sweet man.  Sorry.  I am getting off subject here.

Prototypes.  We have actually already tracked down a FABULOUS local manufacturer.  Now that was an adventure.  First, did you know that there are hardly any textile manufacturers left in America?  Seriously.  We all talk about everything being made in China these days.  But, have you really thought about just HOW MUCH is made in China?  It astounded us.  I bet that we must have spent a good 4  to 5 months of 2009 & 2010 just trying to find a good manufacturer that wasn't 5,000 miles away.  What a blessing to have found one in our home state.  Especially one that sews bias!  Want a good project for a lazy day?  Try to find anyone, and I mean anyone, that has a commercial bias machine.  Not an easy task!

If you have been following our blog for awhile, you will be noticing some changes.  All for the good.  We will FINALLY be finishing up our pages to the right.  You have probably noticed that we have a picture of the two of us, as well.  "Sacrifice" is the word that comes to my mind when I look at that picture.  My, oh my, how I wish that I were a tiny model type pregnant woman!  We will surely be replacing our picture a few months after I have this little one. 

I just realized that you may be wondering what we are making prototypes of.  Well, we can't give specific details just yet.  But, I can tell you that Jody and I have been working on a few very neat children's items for several years now.  All coming from our own needs and desires as moms.  They are practical (VERY) and cute to boot.  We can't wait to launch them this year....I'm sure we'll give you peeks while we are working on them.

Now that we have officially put our picture on our blog, you may be wondering why we didn't do it sooner and how it relates to the two sexy women on our Header.  Well, sadly the reason that we haven't put a real picture of the two of us together on the blog is because we haven't seen each other in person for many months!  We talk all of the time, but truly have to schedule to meet up since we live about 40 miles apart and lead very different lives.  That brings me to our Header.  Jody works very hard as a stay-at-home-mom with a part-time job.  She is represented by the retro woman baking some delicious cupcakes.  I work full time in the so called "professional" world and try to be a good mom at the same time.  I am represented by the retro woman by the typewriter.  Why sexy retro women?  Why not?!
