Heather and I have committed in our effort to blog with "Intention"
to blog about issues that affect us as mothers once a week. An interview I watched on the Today show was the perfect subject for my post. A mother on Strike! I absolutely loved this story! I strongly suggest you take the extra five minutes to check it out.
All I can say is I SOOOO Relate! There have been MANY times I have threatened to strike and I give kudos to this mom for actually doing it. I think the best comment was when the youngest girl said she was "Sad" when she saw the mold. Priceless. I honestly can not even imagine if I let my house go for a week. YIKES!
I know this is what "B's" would look like (always) if I went on strike.
I do think that children need chores and every mom needs help; whether she is a working mom, stay at home mom, a college student or all of the above (the category I am currently in). My oldest child does chores but I will be the first to admit that I am not consistent enough. My youngest two will help out only if I am cleaning with them and even then it is like pulling teeth.
Enough already! Time to Pinterest the dreaded "Chore Chart". What do you think? What are your feelings on this? Do you think she went too far? My thoughts.....this lady is a genius and I think I am ready for a strike and a glass of wine myself ;).
I can't begin to put into words how beautiful Utah is right now. All of the leaves are changing color. When you are in the city and look up to the mountains, all you see are vibrant greens, reds, oranges and yellows.
If you've been following us for awhile, I'm sure that you have heard me say that Summer is my very favorite season. It really is. But, Fall would come in a very close second. I LOVE Halloween and everything that goes along with it.....carving pumpkins, dressing up, costume parties, corn mazes, haunted houses, apple cider, scary movies......I also love wearing boots & the cooler weather.... Fall has always meant new beginnings to me. Maybe because school always began in Fall. There's a certain air of excitement that goes along with it.
I've been promising M that we would take a picnic up Millcreek Canyon. It only takes us 10 minutes to get to this spot from our house! That includes windy mountain roads. So, blessed!
The weather held for so long, it almost seemed like it would last forever. Of course, it changed over night and it was actually cold last weekend. We tried to beat the sun going down and opted to just take Five Guys burgers, hot dogs and fries up. That still qualifies as a picnic, right?

My poor husband. When I saw these pictures I asked him if he's feeling okay. Since he had cancer, I'm always looking at his face and body - searching for any signs of another bout of the ugly stuff. He's actually TRYING to lose weight. But, now that his face is looking thinner, I catch myself wondering and worrying.
When we met with his Oncologist (who, by the way is THE VERY BEST!) for the first time, she warned me that the spouse always worries more than the patient. She was SO very right on that one!
All I will say is that I am glad he has a follow up tomorrow. The fact that he has them every 4 months, keeps me sane.
Oh, yeah. I don't know that I've actually talked about his cancer on the blog much. So, I should tell you that he is in remission...YEAH! Thought I better say something in case you were wondering.
I wish I would have adjusted the settings on my camera as the sun was going down. These photos look a little drab. It really wasn't. The colors were so vibrant!
I would love to be able to purchase Photoshop. Maybe one day. Until then, I heard about a freebie program that is supposed to pretty good. It's called Inkscape. I hear it is comparable to Illustrator. We shall see. I downloaded it the other day. I'm excited to start playing with it and hoping that I can do some photo editing with it. I'll let you know.
She's so funny. She doesn't wear her sunglasses because she thinks they look cool. She's always worried about protecting her eyes. I don't know where that came from. But, she wears them quite a bit.

I know that we usually will do our Fab Find Friday's on Fab products we find, but this restaurant was just too good not to share! If you are ever in St George UT. I would highly recommend stopping in at the Anasazi Steak House for an incredible steak dinner. Over Labor Day we headed down to St George for the three day weekend. While down there we wanted to try something "different" and were told by the locals at the lodge to check out Anasazi Steak House. We were told it was a 70's style restaurant with local art, fondue and amazing steak. This sounded "different" enough. When we arrived we did see the70's style with the exterior:
The local art started outside and worked its way in.
The walls were filled with local Southwest photography.
The fondue was good but the steak was absolutely incredible! Our steaks were brought out on a 700 degree stone and cooked right in front of us. I am not much of a red meat eater but I was able to polish off a 12 oz. steak in nothing flat :). By slicing the steak in small pieces you could cook each piece to perfection. I would have to say it was the best steak I have every eaten. This combined with the concept and the atmosphere was unbeatable!
My hubby the "Foodie" was moaning and groaning all through dinner....it got a little out of control for a minute there ;).
I however was doing the same thing....just on the inside. :)
Next time I will try the dessert. I am more for chocolate covered things than cheese covered things hands down.
If you are ever in the area I would strongly suggest getting yourself some good steak.
Right now I'm pondering what to do with my window boxes. I know that I want to decorate them for fall. But, wondering if I should steer them more spooky for Halloween.
Should I add mums, some more pumpkins and leaves and call it good. Or, do I add more leaves, black cats & spiders? Maybe both?
I'm also wondering why people don't decorate their window boxes year round. I'm going to spruce these babies up for Christmas right after Thanksgiving. Already thinking how nice some pine will look in them.
Right now I am completely, totally, entirely 100% EXHAUSTED. Not only have I not had a full night's sleep for at least 9 months now (I'm counting the 6 months of nursing the little guy, but those last 3 months being pregnant I was up every night, too); we have all been sick for weeks now. My little bear caught a nasty bug the second he stepped into his new daycare. Of course!
Right now I'm thinking how funny it is that my little guy can be so serious! And, BIG.. And, that he will never be this small again.
Right now I'm wondering how Romney and Obama can be in a statistical dead heat.
I just looked at news headlines....
Seriously, how can anyone that is not a millionaire consider voting for Romney?
Speaking of baffling news...WHO are all of the people watching Honey Boo Boo??! Have you seen that trash?
The real question, is WHY? Why are so many people watching it? It makes me cringe thinking about it....mud rolling, pet pigs, stinky Santa suits....
Right now I am thinking that the people watching Honey Boo Boo, must be the same people that will be voting for Romney. That's the only thing that makes sense.
Right now I'm wondering if M is hot. She wore a heavy long sleeved dress over her leotard today. I couldn't talk her out of it.
Right now I am thinking how blessed we are to be able to send her to a preschool that has dance lessons. She LOVES dancing.
Right now I am thinking how grateful I am to have moved to such a nice neighborhood with great schools for my kiddos, nice neighbors and the most spectacular views.

Something else that is nice about our recent move is the 15 minutes I get to myself each day - driving to the office. I can actually turn the radio up as loud as I want.....and, I don't have to listen to the Disney Channel, either!
Right now I'm off to work. Hopefully, Ho Hey comes on the radio while I'm headed in. I can think about how much I love my man and that he really is my sweetheart...we're meant to be.
