New Old Bathroom

Our bathroom remodel is finally completely finished!  Well, truth be known it is 99% finished.  Hubby needs to put some moulding around the attic access.  But, since it is such an itty bitty tiny thing to do, I'm sticking with this project is finally complete!

Do you have a spot in your home that is absolutely atrocious and ugly, but you have gotten so used to it, that it doesn't seem to bother you much?  That was our bathroom.  Check out some of these "before" photos.

Now this picture is not quite fair because we pulled off some of the tiles just before remodeling to see how they were attached.  But, you can still get a good idea of how desperately we needed to do something about this bathroom!  Gotta love the worn toilet seat...haha....it was actually only a couple of years old.  Poor finish on that one.

I'm sure that you are wondering how in the world an Interior Designer could live with this.  It's pretty easy, actually.  We kept saying we needed to get it done, but then something in our crazy lives would take priority.  When we would have the money, something else would come up.  Then, when we had the time, we didn't have the money.  You know...just life.

But, we finally did it.

Hubby gutted everything out of the old bathroom (poor guy), and then raised the ceiling.  It really helps this small bath feel a lot bigger.

We replaced all of the old tile with a wainscot and more elaborate trim.  Everything above the wainscot is painted a cheery yellow.  The old linoleum was replaced with new tile, we replaced the sink, toilet, fixtures, mirror and refinished the old eagle claw tub (I should say my awesome husband instead of "we" - I only picked things out, he did the work).  We basically replaced or refinished everything.

We bought the lights, mirror/cabinet, pedestal sink, paint, fixtures and tile at Home Depot.  By the way, if you ask M what her favorite store is she will say "Home Depot"!  Her dad is brainwashing her!

We were able to refinish the old claw foot tub with materials from Home Depot, too.

I would love to put up a few pictures, change out the old shower curtain and accessorize, but I am refraining.  Since we will be putting our house on the market any day and will be moving soon, I don't want to invest the money in that and put holes in the wall.  Bummer, huh?  I finally get my bathroom remodeled and we are moving!

Oh, well.  We'll still get to enjoy it for a few months.  That and our brand new bedroom carpet that arrived this week.  Yeah!

A Day at the Farm

Taking full advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday I took the girls to the Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point.  It is a local non-profit attraction here in Utah County and a beautiful place to visit.  If you haven't been (and live in Utah), I would highly recommend it!

It was a girls day out.  I even had one of Indiana's little friends.  We had a blast!
They loved the baby chicks.  Just in time for Easter!  I would be lying if I told you I didn't wish I could borrow just a couple for a quick photo shoot with the kids ;).  Unfortunately borrowing chicks just for photo purposes is frowned upon in Farm Country.
"B" LOVED the animals.  They all say "woof woof" according to her. She did however learn a new word yesterday: "Animal".  Her version sounds more like "Elmo" :).
Most of my pictures are of the back of their heads.....
There was WAY too much to see to keep looking back at moms camera
Farm Animals and TON of kids, all getting pics on the cow chair = my eternal gratitude for the park supplied hand sanitizer.  Heather would have had some in her purse I am sure of it.  Me, of course I have some, where it went?  Who knows....details...details.
 There was the pony ride
The older girls took the ponies (of course), leaving the big horse for "B".  She still enjoyed it, even if she said "ouwwwiee" the whole ride.
Beat up window frame, flaky chipped paint = perfect photo opp
They spent some time in jail
Indiana seemed to enjoy it just a little too much :)
Then on to the wagon ride....
Love this picture!
 More attempted kid pics.....
As you can see with no cooperation :)
"B" loved the popcorn....
And the Ice Cream....YUM!

Popcorn and ice cream, the lunch of champions!

Saturday

Jody and I got to hang out for a bit on Saturday.
What better way to go over some business planning than to do it over a mani & pedi?!

Jody was feeling adventurous and went with a green/grey combo.

Check it out.  Her nails match her blackberries.
I went with my old standby - classic red.

The weather was perfect.  70 degrees.  The type of day that gives anyone a good dose of Spring Fever!
After our Mani and Pedi's we went next door to the ever delicious Tulie Bakery.
We shared their mozzarella, tomato & basil sandwich.  Absolutely scrumptious.  I loved the balsamic vinegar.
Can you believe this was one sandwich?  It was perfect for sharing!

I had to have the lemon tartlett.  It IS a bakery.  How could I not?  It was so good!

The countdown is on for several things.  My baby is due in just 13 days!  And, The ABC Show is only 6 months away.  Essentially that means that some how, some way we have to creatively find a way (or ways) to complete about 10 major tasks on minimal sleep while wading through the chaos that has become the norm for both of our lives.

Jody is on it.  She has all but completed her first task on the deadlines we set.  You rock, girl!

I still have 13 days to finish mine.  :)

Say Hello to my Little Friend

We have a few friends that visit every Spring/Summer....snake friends.  The kids LOVE them!  It is always a snake hunt in our yard every year.

The girls found our first friend of the year.....

Thank goodness they are small garden snakes, I am not a fan.
This picture cracks me up.  They have spotted him.
And he spotted them....and ran away :)
 There he is!!!
 There he goes!!!
They stayed there for probably a good twenty minutes trying to get him to come back out again, with no luck.   Indiana said "We'll get Coy to catch him!"

Poor Snake :)

Happy Monday Everyone!

Funny...it was time for us to roll up our sleeves as well.......

We too rolled up our sleeves yesterday, for our Thursday art project that is!

Heather....oh Heather!  This is just so par for the course with us right?  I keep thinking I can't even IMAGINE how she feels right now; however that is not entirely true.  We moved right before "B" was born, while I was on bedrest and right after Indiana's hospitalization with asthma.  Breathing is a good thing, I am not sure you will have time for it ;), however it is VERY important!

I am very excited for you guys and we would love to come and help so PLEASE ask!  We can blog about it too ;).  If anyone can do it, I know you two can.

This week's art project was also thanks to Pinterest!  Found HERE

Now, while ours didn't turn out quite this FABULOUS.  We still had fun!

This is a simple, fun, messy project :).

Supplies you will need:
A ball of yarn (We used what we had kicking around, I really liked the variegated like the photo above)
A LOT of Elmer's glue (Watered down is best)
Paper plates
Plastic bowls or containers (Empty yogurt cups work great)
Plastic Wrap
Scissors
Kids

Instructions:
Cover your plastic "bowl/cup" with saran wrap
Cut yarn into approximately 17 in. lengths (how many you cut depends on the size of the cup)
Pour glue mixture onto paper plate
COAT your yarn.  I mean a LOT of glue.
Place yarn around your cup/bowl.  As you will see below there is no right or wrong way to do it.  Some like it messy, some like it neat.  I am a messy kinda' gal ;).

Cover the bowl/cup as much as you would like but keep in mind that it will need to be strong enough/have enough coverage on the bottom to hold goodies (if that is your intention).

Let them dry overnight.  Take them off the bowl and remove the plastic wrap.
This project will take about an hour.

Old shirt / Paint shirt recommended
 "B's" loved the outside Sink
 Voila!
This one is probably my favorite.
I think I like them all stacked up the best!

Indiana said she wants to put Easter grass and Cadbury mini eggs inside.  I would have to agree, since they are the best Easter chocolates out there!

Happy Friday everyone!
